Canaries can ruffle the champions’ feathers
The pressure could be off for both Estoril and Sporting Club on Saturday evening when both teams can play their part in an entertaining end-of-season affair.
The hosts, who need one point to be sure of their place in the Primeira Liga for another year, may already be safe before kick-off if Portimonense do not win their early afternoon game.
But the Canaries can still ruffle the feathers of the newly-crowned champions in this game, especially if Ruben Amorim makes changes and gives some of the Lisbon club’s promising youngsters a run out.
Kids could be blooded by Sporting
Amorim looks likely to stay another season in Portugal and has every reason to have a look at the fresh talent off the Sporting academy’s production line.
Blooding them in a game with nothing on it seems a sensible choice and it could give Estoril a chance of sneaking a first victory against them since 2018.
Sporting cruised to a 5-1 win over Estoril at the Alvalade earlier this season and the prospects of both teams bagging again look good. Both teams have scored in four of the Lions last’ six away trips in all competitions and that probably rates the standout bet in a trappy contest.
