After last season’s league and cup double, Celtic are returning to action with loftier ambitions for the 2024/25 campaign. The Bhoys will be hoping for European success alongside more silverware at home.
The Bhoys certainly sent a message this summer, despite limited moves in the market. They went on a preseason tour of the US, blowing away two established Premier League sides. They opened with a 4-0 win over D.C. United, before a 4-3 victory over Man City and a 4-1 thumping of Chelsea.
Celtic have scored 18 times across their last four preseason matches and they won by three clear goals on 13 occasions on their way to the title last term. That includes their penultimate game when they wrapped up the title with a 5-0 victory at Kilmarnock.
Killie lost out in the Europa League on Thursday, with a 1-0 defeat at Cercle Brugge sending them out. Thursday night offers a second chance, as they drop into the Conference League to meet Tromso. With this clash coming in-between two important games, back Celtic to continue a stellar summer by clearing a -2 handicap in their opener.
