Two wounded animals will open Matchday No 21 in the Premier League as Liverpool host Chelsea on Saturday’s early afternoon at Anfield.
Both teams finally managed to pick up wins in the recent games but they by no means impressed while getting them.
Liverpool advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup thanks to a phenomenal goal by Harvey Elliott in the 3rd round replay against Wolves on Tuesday evening at Molineux.
Jurgen Klopp rested Mohamed Salah on the occasion, giving him just 30 minutes of play in mid-week.
The German manager is optimistic about having striker Darwin Nunez back in action after the Uruguayan missed the team’s previous two matches through injury.
It will be very interesting to see whether the mentioned cup success will help Liverpool forget about the recent league failures.
The Reds fell to the 9th position in the Premier League table after back-to-back tough road losses to Brentford and Brighton.
As bad as Liverpool have been this season, they are still above Chelsea in the league table. This says enough about the Blues who have not been pulling up any trees ever since appointing Graham Potter as the new head coach.
Chelsea spent a lot of money on new signings in January. We might see the most recent acquisition Mykhailo Mudryk in action here, while Joao Felix is still suspended after getting sent off in the 2-1 defeat at Fulham on his debut.

Chelsea lost five of ten league matches on the road this term. They have three defeats in the last four games across competitions. Liverpool have struggled of late but this is an ideal chance for them to find a way out of the crisis.
