Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao would be vying for a spot in the Copa del Rey finals against either Real Madrid or FC Barcelona. Both sides are playing really good football and would have a chance to add to their trophy cabinet if they reach the finals. Osasuna is my favorite pick to reach the finals but for this game, I'll be going with a home win or draw for these reasons;
Firstly, Osasuna is a very good team at home and with this tie being a two legged affair, they would be at their best on Wednesday to take an advantage into the second leg next week. They are a force to reckon with at the Estadio El Sadar and Osasuna can hurt them here. The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona struggled here this season and Athletic Bilbao's chance of winning here is quite low. For a mid table team, six wins in eleven home league games is a good record for Osasuna and their only home losses recently were against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, both by a tiny margin.
Secondly, the gap between these two teams is almost non-existent even with the hype surrounding Athletic Bilbao. Osasuna knocked out Real Betis in the quarter finals of the Spanish Copa del Rey to reach this stage of the competition. Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna faced off at the beginning of the season at the San Mames. Athletic Bilbao could not defeat Osasuna despite having the home advantage and Osasuna was very close to taking all three points. Since the appointment of Jagoba Arrasate, Osasuna has been a very decent side and they are just one step away from reaching a final in more than two decades.
Osasuna is playing very good football currently and they have rattled big teams in the league. They have not had an easy ride in this competition and they can go all the way to the finals. They play very well at home while Athletic Bilbao do not perform well outside the San Mames. For these reasons I'm predicting a home win or draw for Osasuna.
