Lecce and Salernitana will drop the curtain on Gameweek No 3 in the 2023/24 Serie A campaign in the derby of south Italy on Sunday evening at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.
Both teams go into the tie unbeaten after the opening two rounds but Lecce’s fans are certainly happier with four out of six points so far in the campaign.
The fact the hosts have collected as many as points despite facing the likes of Lazio and Fiorentina along the way is pretty impressive for the team’s new boss Roberto D’Aversa.
D’Aversa can be thrilled with the physical condition of his players as Lecce have been the most dangerous in the final stages of both games, scoring a couple of second-half goals against both Lazio and Fiorentina.
Salernitana’s players have also shown decent form, holding Roma and Udinese to draws in the inaugural two rounds.
The visitors are unbeaten in four consecutive games across competitions, including a 2-1 win over Augsburg in the final preseason test.
On top of fine starts in the league, both outfits jumped above their maiden obstacles in Coppa Italia via respective 1-0 wins over Como and Ternana.
Lecce have scored two goals in second halves of each of their inaugural two games of the season. We like them at 1.66 to find the back of the net in the second half of Sunday’s home match against Salernitana.
