Hammers after response to Arsenal mauling
West Ham were humiliated in a 6-0 drubbing by Arsenal at the London Stadium on Sunday and David Moyes is under increasing pressure heading into their clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Hammers found themselves 4-0 down at half-time against the Gunners, prompting a number of fans to depart the London Stadium before the second half.
It was a toothless performance and West Ham had no response to Arsenal, who forced 12 shots on target and saw 71 per cent of the ball.
Tough start to the year for David Moyes
But the most concerning part for Hammers fans is that was not an anomalous result but rather it extended their winless run to seven games in 2024.
As part of that streak, they failed to beat Championship side Bristol City both home and away in the FA Cup and, as well as the Arsenal humbling, they have lost matches 5-0, 5-1 and 3-0 since the start of December.
They have been permeable at the back but have also faltered going forwards and the style of play under Moyes recently has been pretty uninspiring.
Moyes could indeed be running out of time at West Ham and they simply have to get something from their visit to Nottingham Forest.
But given their current run of form, Forest could be worth a bet to win.
Forest value for victory at the City Ground
The Tricky Trees are also without a win in 90 minutes this year but they at least knocked Bristol City out of the FA Cup on penalties and they pushed Newcastle close in a 3-2 loss at home last time out.
They also made things tricky for Arsenal at the City Ground at the end of January, having lost 2-1, and three of their five Premier League wins have come on home soil.
They have not been quite as impressive on their own turf as they were last season but they should sniff blood this weekend and the home crowd should be right behind them.
Both teams have scored in 16 of Nottingham Forest’s 24 league matches this season, so there could be goals at both ends and a 2-1 win to the hosts is the way to go in the correct score betting.
As for a goalscorer pick, Taiwo Awoniyi has scored five times in all competitions and can get on the scoresheet after leading the line last time out.
