One goal might be enough for Mirandes to move above Real Zaragoza in Sunday’s Segunda Division survival battle at Estadio Municipal de Anduva.
Both clubs are really struggling at the moment with each having suffered five defeats in their last six matches coming into this crucial six-pointer.
Jabatos beat mid-table Eldense 3-1 in their last home game and have now won three of their last five in front of their own fans. Zaragoza’s away record is pretty uninspiring with the Whites having failed to win any of their last 11 league games on the road, failing to score in the last four of those.
Whites look too tense in front of goal
Mirandes were not disgraced in their 4-0 away defeat to leaders Leganes last weekend, going close to opening the scoring and passing up a great chance to halve the deficit before half-time.
The fact that they are scoring goals on a regular basis whereas Zaragoza are not makes them a much better play than the visitors in this matchup. The visitors will hope the better second-half showing in last week’s 1-0 home defeat to third-placed Espanyol is a sign of better things to come under new coach Victor Fernandez.
But the tension in the team when each opportunity went by without a goal being scored was palpable and they may struggle to get anything again when faced by a Mirandes defence that has shut out three of their last six home opponents.
