Shamrock Rovers are back in action after a brief hiatus and will be looking to beat St Patrick’s Athletic to put pressure on the Irish Premier Division’s top two on Thursday.
The champions are nine points behind leaders Shelbourne with a game in hand and are probably still smarting form the 2-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Reds late last month.
Stephen Bradley’s side got back on track with a 2-0 victory at relegation-threatened Drogheda United a fortnight ago, but had their last fixture postponed because of international call-ups.
Celtic hitman on a roll
On-loan Celtic striker Johnny Kenny has now returned to the fold after Irish Under-21 duty but key midfielder Markus Poom is still away with Estonia at the Baltic Cup. Kenny was in excellent form before he left after scoring six goals in his last nine Rovers appearances and looks like the most likely goalscorer for the visitors on Thursday.
Bradley’s side have already shipped 20 goals this term, however, when they finished last term with a record of conceding only 27 in 36 games.
