League Two East Fife sit second in their League Cup group heading into their final fixture on Saturday. They’ve made an unbeaten start through three games and that has put them in the mix for a place in the next round, ahead of Premiership side St Johnstone.
The Saints were beaten at Alloa in midweek which has left them outside the top two. That setback came after a couple of wins over the bottom two in their pool, but the manner of their 3-2 defeat is a concern.
St Johnstone never led in that visit to Championship opposition and now they host an East Fife side who haven’t even conceded a goal across their three games in this group to date.
The visitors head Alloa to a 0-0 draw on the road and recorded comfortable victories at home. Including their preseason games, East Fife have kept six successive clean sheets this summer heading into a game where they need to avoid defeat.
Considering the Saints’ struggles and the fact they’ve won just two of their last five home games in this competition, East Fife with a +2 handicap is the standout value here.
