Kilmarnock began the new season in brutal fashion as they were thrashed by defending champions Celtic, but last season’s fourth-place finishers can bounce back against St Johnstone on Sunday.
The hosts do have European football to contend with, but St Johnstone finished last term tenth in the table and opened the new campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Aberdeen, and they could be set for another difficult afternoon at Rugby Park.
Saints set for season of struggle
The Saints shipped three at League One side Alloa Park in the League Cup last month and have conceded twice in their last two meetings with Kilmarnock, who netted twice in their home match against Tromso in midweek.
Killie have scored two or more goals in six of their last 11 home league games, and that includes three meetings with the Old Firm sides. They should have enough to get a couple of goals, and a repeat of their 2-1 win when St Johnstone last visited Rugby Park could be in store.
