Slovenia made a positive start to their Nations League campaign by holding Austria to a 1-1 draw and now face a very winnable game against Kazakhstan.
Slovenia are unbeaten in 12 at home, winning eight of those games, and the Kazakhs are on a five-game winless run (D1, L4).
A home win looks likely but holds little appeal at a short price. Kazakhstan won promotion from League C in the last Nations League and set their stall out with a goalless draw at home to Norway in their opener earlier this week.
The visitors will come to defend and get any kind of result they can. Backing Slovenia to win to nil is one option but under 2.5 goals looks preferable for our main bet.
There have been fewer than three goals scored in each of Slovenia’s last six games and they haven’t scored more than twice themselves in any of their last 13.
Kazakhstan did scored in a pair of Euro 2024 qualifying defeats to Slovenia but I’m not expecting the visitors to add to the total here after they failed to manage a single attempt on target against the Norwegians, having just four attempts in total.
As such, under 2.5 goals looks a solid option here and a 2-0 win for Slovenia appeals as a correct score bet. Kazakhstan may be able to hold out for a while against their hosts but Slovenia can find a way through, and they have scored exactly twice in each of their last three home wins.
