Shakhtar are unbeaten in four, drawing with Bologna in their last European game
Shakhtar beat both Barcelona and Antwerp on neutral ground last season
Atalanta have won two of their first eight games this season
Another Italian job for Shakhtar
Shakhtar Donetsk picked up a draw away to Bologna in their Champions League opener and they can frustrate Europa League holders Atalanta.
La Dea head to Hamburg having won just twice in eight games this season. They drew 1-1 against Bologna at the weekend, while they also opened their Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
Atalanta have struggled to get going this term, despite a bright start. They pushed Real Madrid in the Super Cup before kicking off their league campaign with a 4-0 victory against Lecce. However, they significantly overperformed their Expected Goals in that victory, converting 80% of their shots on target.
Since then, finishing chances has been tough for la Dea. They’ve also struggled defensively, leading to a three-game winless run that includes a home loss to Serie A newcomers Como.
Shakhtar don’t have home advantage in Wednesday’s encounter but they fared well in clashes with Barcelona and Antwerp in Germany last year. They won both of those games 1-0 and this season they made an encouraging start with a point in Italy. The Ukrainian side are unbeaten in their last four matches and they can extend that against Atalanta.
Predictions:Shakhtar Donetsk Double Chance (Win or Draw) Draw 1-1
