Moldova only need a point to secure promotion to Nations League C
Moldova have drawn two of their last four away matches
Malta have drawn two of their last three home games
Moldova can make their point
Back the draw when Malta host a Moldova team that needs only a point to secure promotion from UEFA Nations League D on Sunday. Sergiu Clescenco’s side are a perfect three from three so far in their group and beat Malta 2-0 at home only last month.
But they did not offer much in Thursday’s 2-0 victory over Andorra apart from a couple of breakaway goals and may struggle to break down a Malta side that are always tougher on their own turf.
Moldova are without talismanic Heerenveen striker Ion Nicolaescu – the country’s all-time top scorer on 16 international goals – because of injury, but they do have plenty of pace in their ranks.
Goalless game could be on the cards
Malta are not blessed with many speed merchants, but the single biggest factor to keep in mind when betting on this clash is that Moldova only need a draw.
They have not conceded a goal in three games, while Malta have failed to score in three of their last five – including their last two in Ta’Qali, so the prospects of a 0-0 also look good.
