Hosts could come out on top in close affair
Two of Turkey’s biggest sides go head-to-head on Monday and Super Lig leaders Galatasaray will believe that they can extend their advantage at the top of the table with victory over a Besiktas side who have struggled in recent trips to Rams Park.
The Lion have won eight of their nine opening league matches this season and possess the most clinical attack in the division, with Mauro Icardi, Victor Osimhen, Baris Yilmaz and Dries Mertens all contributing at least three goals to their tally of 27.
The Black Eagles are also unbeaten in league football this season – a stark contrast from their two defeats from three in Europe – and Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men did run rampant in their Super Cup meeting with Galatasaray this season, winning 5-0.
However, Besiktas have lost six of their last seven visits to Rams Park and their unhappy travels could be set to continue in this encounter. The visitors have scored in each of their last four away meetings with Galatasaray and so they will feel confident in getting on the scoresheet but that may be as good as it gets for the Black Eagles and a 2-1 home win looks a tempting prospect.
