Both teams have scored in eight of Strasbourg’s nine Ligue 1 matches this season.
The visitors have scored seven goals in their last three league games.
Saint-Etienne have kept just two clean sheets in their last 24 home Ligue 1 outings.
Strasbourg beginning to find their feet
Last week’s 3-1 home win over Nantes has taken Strasbourg to ninth in the Ligue 1 table and their ambitions should be higher than that after some decent results lately.
Champions Paris Saint-Germain are the only team to have beaten them in their last six outings and that was just their second defeat of the season after they surrendered a 3-1 lead to go down 4-3 at Lyon at the end of August.
Seven goals from their last three games is a decent return for Liam Rosenior’s team and they can continue their progress by winning at Saint-Etienne on Saturday.
Home side have defensive issues
Les Verts find themselves in the bottom three with seven points from their last nine games and it is a cause for concern that they have lost four of their last six league games on their own patch.
They have also been humbled 4-0 at Brest and 8-0 at Nice this term, so there are plainly defensive issues to be addressed, and, as they have conceded at least twice in five of their last eight games at the Stade Geoffrey-Guichard, a 2-1 away win could be of interest to correct-score betting enthusiasts.
