St Mirren should bounce back from a surprise home defeat to Dundee by having the better of Thursday’s clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. The Buddies were worthy of all three points against the Dee with Stephen Robinson’s side controlling much of the possession and creating several opportunities.
A pivotal moment came shortly after the break when Toyosi Olusanya found himself with a clear chance to put the hosts ahead, but he lost his footing and his shot only found the side netting.
Despite the setback, which came only days after St Mirren had defeated Rangers at home, Robinson’s side ended 2024 in the top six of the Premiership with solid prospects of qualifying for Europe for a second season in a row.

Kilmarnock, meanwhile, lost 1-0 at Hibernian on Sunday to halt their their four-game unbeaten streak. Derek McInnes’s men thrashed his former club Aberdeen 4-0 on Boxing Day, but the Dons have gone badly off the boil in recent weeks.
This clash is arguably a much tougher test for them against a St Mirren side that have won three of their last four Premiership games on the road.
