Sporting unravelling in Europe
Sporting have pushed their way back to the top of the Primeira Liga, but they’ve struggled for form in Europe since Ruben Amorim departed. The Portuguese champions lost their first three European games after Amorim left, while they trailed 1-0 at home to Bologna for the majority of their final game and risked elimination, before claiming a 1-1 draw.
Each of Sporting’s previous five European games have featured both teams scoring, so goals are expected when they meet Borussia Dortmund.
Both teams have scored in 12 of Dortmund’s last 13 matches, while they’ve conceded in all but one of their previous 13 matches on the road. The Bundesliga outfit have at least struck first in all four of their Champions League trips this term, while they have in-form forward Sehrou Guirassy to fall back on.
The former Stuttgart striker has scored in four of his last five games for Dortmund and he has netted in four straight Champions League games, scoring six times in that run. With Viktor Gyokeres expected to return for the hosts, back goals both sides here.
