Lazio are currently second favourites among most bookies to win the UEFA Europa League, and it’s clear to see why they are highly regarded, having finished top of their group in the league phase with a total of 19 points out of 24. They were unbeaten heading into their last match against Braga and had won all three of their away matches. However, with nothing on the line for them, it was hardly a game they needed to win, so I wouldn’t read too much into that result
Having beaten the likes of Ajax and FC Porto, Lazio should have no difficulty beating Plzen, who finished 12th in the league phase and have since beaten Ferencvaros in the previous round. They picked up 12 points in the league phase but struggled against tougher opposition, losing to the likes of Atlético Bilbao and Man Utd. Lazio are the better side here and should win this.
Lazio also boast a very good defensive record throughout this competition, having kept three clean sheets, two of which came away from home. They’ll no doubt play a key part tonight and should keep Plzen out, securing a 2-0 win.
