Real Madrid have gone back to basics following their Champions League exit, claiming back-to-back 1-0 wins. However, they conceded 2.3 Expected Goals in their win at Getafe, which doesn’t bode well for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.
La Liga leaders Barcelona have twice humbled Real this term, winning 4-0 at the Bernabeu and thumping them 5-2 in the Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia. While Real made a huge splash this summer by adding Kylian Mbappe, their lack of defensive depth and the departure of Toni Kroos has hurt them in big games.
Real struggled through their last 16 tie with Atletico in the Champions League before exiting to Arsenal. They’ve also lost visits to Athletic Bilbao and Real Betis domestically. All is not well for the Spanish giants, who almost missed out on the final after a 4-3 home defeat to Real Sociedad in 90 minutes in the second-leg of the semi-final.
Barcelona are the strongest side in Spain right now, they’ve won 11 of their last 13 matches across all competitions. The loss of Robert Lewandowski is a blow, but Dani Olmo stepped up for Spain at Euro 2024 and he’s doing the same for his club. He’s scored in three of his last four appearances, so back him to help Barca to victory.
