Staggies plot another great escape
Ross County’s Premiership play-off experience should see them to victory against Livingston in Monday’s second leg in Dingwall. A 96th-minute penalty coolly converted by Staggies top-scorer Ronan Hale ensured the Premiership club will go into this home game on level terms.
Livi were the better side for long spells of Thursday’s clash at Home of the Set Fare Arena, but their inability to put the ball in the back of the net may prove very costly.
Ross County went into that game with their confidence at a low ebb after a run of nine games without a win, but they will be delighted to get Livi back to their place with the scores level.
Championship club face uphill task in Highlands
History suggests this will be a tough task for Livi with the Championship side having gained promotion from only three of the last 10 Premiership play-offs – the last two featuring Ross County.
Backed by an incredible atmosphere in the Highlands, the Staggies turned the tables on Partick Thistle two years ago and they thrashed Raith Rovers to avoid the drop in similar circumstances last year.
They have an in-form goalscorer too in Hale, who has scored in five of their last seven games and can get on the scoresheet again on Monday. Back Ross County to win in 90 minutes with a 2-0 scoreline possible if they get the first goal and control matters with their experienced midfield.
