Southampton and Wolves will lock horns in a massive relegation six-pointer on Saturday afternoon at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The visitors will enter the game in much higher spirits after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Liverpool seven days at Molineux Stadium.
It was the second win in the previous three Premier League affairs for the Wolves who moved up to 15th place in the league table as a consequence.
The visitors are now two points above the relegation area and five points above the rock-bottomed Southampton.
Although we are practically just past the halfway point of the season, we could say this is one of the last trains to catch for the Saints in the battle for avoiding the drop to Championship football.
A potential defeat here would leave Southampton firmly at the foot of the standings and further increase the gap between them and the teams in the safe zone.
There is really not much to suggest a positive scenario for Nathan Jones’ troops here. They suffered a tough 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford last weekend.
