Sweden will host New Zealand in the preparation for the tough away game against Austria in the UEFA EURO Qualifications.
The match is scheduled for Friday night at Friends Arena in Solna where the hosts will be huge favorites to claim the victory and raise the spirits in the dressing room ahead of an important qualifier.
Blagult missed out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after a 2-0 loss to Poland in the playoffs finals last year.
They got off to a poor start to the new campaign with a 0-3 defeat to Belgium on home soil in March only to make amends with a 5-0 demolition of Azerbaijan three days later.
Head coach Janne Andersson can count on his very best squad at the moment, including the likes of Viktor Lindelof, Emil Forsberg, Dejan Kulusevski, Alexander Isak, and Anthony Elanga, each of whom have had strong campaigns for their respective European clubs last season.
The same can’t be said for New Zealand who will be without their biggest star Chris Wood. Nottingham Forest’s striker has not been called up at all due to injury woes.
The All Whites generally have big issues with the lack of creativity and efficiency in their ranks even with Wood in the roster.
They have failed to find the back of the net in six of the last seven matches across competitions, a run that includes a 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica in the intercontinental playoffs ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
The difference in quality between these rivals is enormous. New Zealand did not score in six of the last seven matches and they are about to face the toughest rival yet in this streak.
