Arsenal have a perfect record after the inaugural two fixtures of the season despite showing mediocre displays along the way.
Slender victories over the likes of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace can hardly make the Gunners’ fans thrilled but the runners-up do have six points and parity at the top of the league standings.
Mikel Arteta’s men needed a Martin Odegaard penalty-kick to make the difference on Monday Night Football at Selhurst Park at the hour-mark.
Takehiro Tomiyasu got sent off shortly after Odegaard’s opener and he will be suspended for the next game. With Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko also sidelined through injuries, Arteta does have serious problems on the left back position at this stage of the season.
That said, Arsenal are still enormous favorites to dispatch Fulham in another London derby on Saturday afternoon at Emirates Stadium.
The Cottagers suffered a tough 0-3 defeat at the hands of Brentford seven days ago in front of their fans.
