Alaves enjoyed a decent enough start to the season, but that is at risk of falling away after a run of three defeats in their last four outings.
It is true that all those losses have come on the road, and they are unbeaten at Estadio de Mendizorroza, but there is major concern over reversals against Espanyol and Getafe.
Luis Garcia’s side also have a horrific record against Barcelona, whom they have not beaten in 14 attempts since 2016, losing on a dozen occasions!
Barca must bounce back
That is good news for their visitors, who suffered a shock 4-2 defeat to Osasuna in their most recent La Liga fixture.
They put that behind them quickly though, hammering Young Boys 5-0 in the Champions League in midweek, already an eighth victory of the season.
Four of those wins have been accompanied by at least a two goal cushion, including 5-1 and 4-1 successes at Girona and Villarreal that have helped them into top spot in the table.
I predict that Barcelona will win this game with a -1 handicap, selecting 3-1 as a correct score prediction.
