Kosovo can get the job done
Kosovo were good value for their 2-1 home win over Iceland in Pristina on Thursday and will feel good about their chances fo promotion to Nations League B.
Franco Foda’s side dominated the second half and maintained the momentum they established during the League C campaign last autumn when they won four of their six games. Dardanet will also be pleased to be heading to Murcia in Spain rather than Reykjavic for this decisive clash.
Kosovo will have to do without influential midfielder Valon Berisha because of suspension, but all their other important players are available and their 2-1 lead means they can sit deep and try to hit Iceland on the counter attack.
Disjointed Iceland need to improve
Arnar Gunnlaugsson’s first match in charge of Our Boys did not go the way he wanted with individual errors and a general disjointedness about the team costing them a chance of a positive result.
He will look to rectify those problems, but the damage may already be done. A draw will suffice for Kosovo now, but they have the capacity to score a couple of goals and win this game too.
Backing over 2.5 goals in the game, which has landed in five of the last six Iceland games, has plenty of merit. Six of Kosovo’s last eight games have also featured at least three strikes and, although most of those were one-sided wins over lower-ranked sies or defeats to bigger nations. However, the situation in the tie suggests Iceland have to make the game and that may suit Kosovo.
